OEI’s chairman, Lou Oberndorf, was presented with the 3rd annual Pioneer in Simulation Award by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) at the society’s annual IMSH conference earlier this year. The award recognizes Lou for his leadership in the industrialization of the human patient simulator as well as his other significant contributions to the healthcare simulation industry.
In his speech, Lou recognizes how far the society and healthcare simulation industry have come in just the last 10 years and the importance of how the society and industry have grown together as a community, remarking “What we have accomplished together is nothing short of extraordinary.”
Lou’s work with the society also includes the establishment of the Lou Oberndorf Lecture on Innovation in Healthcare Simulation, made possible by a gift from the Lou and Rosemary Oberndorf Charitable Fund, which allows the society to provide an annual lecture on innovation in simulation and other new technologies that enhance healthcare education and ultimately improve patient care and safety.
