LEADERSHIP TEAM

LOU OBERNDORF

Chairman and CEO

Lou Oberndorf is a pioneer in medical technology leadership. As the founder of Medical Education Technologies Inc., (METI) in 2008, Mr. Oberndorf’s vision and execution delivered the first high-fidelity patient simulation technology.  METI’s simulators are still present in more than 2000 institutions worldwide providing healthcare education.

In 2011, the Lou Oberndorf Lecture on Innovation in Healthcare Simulation was endowed at the International Meeting for Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH).  He received the Pioneer in Healthcare Simulation award from the Society for Healthcare Simulation (SSH) in 2015.

As Chairman and CEO of Operative Experience, Lou leads a talented team that continually iterates and innovates healthcare simulation capabilities.  He believes the OEI charge is  “to challenge ourselves first to understand and then to build what the customer really needs – in the real world with all the constraints and decision points that occur there.  We are not afraid to reach and harness the best people and the best technology to help our customers build better healthcare.”

That first hand understanding of the medics, nurses, and clinicians OEI serves has been a defining strength of her tenure with the company. Sutton joined OEI in 2021 as Business Development Manager for the U.S. Air Force before advancing to lead the company’s global sales organization.

Through this tenure, Sutton has secured large programs, the Air National Guard TCCC program being the largest, sourcing 206 high-fidelity simulators with capabilities to train all levels of TCCC. Sutton believes that “every simulator we place in the field means a medic, nurse, or physician who is better prepared for the moment that matters; it is my honor to continue building the partnerships that put uncompromising, realistic training in the hands of the people who save lives.”
